Photos: San Diego AGO’s Annual Scholarship Auditions Celebrate Young Talent

On May 10, 2025, the sanctuary of La Jolla Presbyterian Church rang with the sound of promise as 15 organ students took part in San Diego AGO’s annual scholarship auditions. Students—mentored by teachers Ken Herman, Leslie Wolf Robb, and Lea Schmidt-Rogers—each performed two contrasting pieces and a hymn, showcasing their developing skills and artistry
Every participant received a scholarship to support continued organ study, and the top six performers (high school age or younger) were invited to perform in Sunday afternoon concerts at the historic Spreckels Organ Pavilion.
In partnership with the San Diego AGO, the Spreckels Organ Society will award an additional scholarship to the highest-ranking student (high school age or younger) in each division. This collaboration celebrates excellence and encourages the next generation of organists to keep the music alive.
