Faith Lutheran Church in Vista is seeking an organist for our Sunday morning 9:15 am worship services. We’re a Christ-centered congregation with a strong love for traditional liturgy, classic hymns, and meaningful worship.
We’re looking for someone with musical skill, who can confidently lead on the organ and enhance our worship with thoughtful, expressive playing. Your talent will help shape the sound of our worship—supporting a congregation that truly loves to sing. In addition to Sundays, there are a few special services throughout the year (Christmas, Good Friday, Easter, etc.).

Parish Organist/Choir Accompanist

JOB DESCRIPTION
St. Thomas More Catholic Church is committed to fostering the active participation of the liturgical assembly through the ministry of competent pastoral musicians who lead and sustain the singing of the assembly, choirs, and cantors. In addition to the regular schedule of 3 Weekend Masses and 4 Daily morning Masses (Monday-Friday), the Parish Organist/Choir Accompanist will also need be available for special Masses throughout the year (such as feast days/solemnities, funerals, and weddings), and for regular rehearsals with our choir (~1x a week, September-June). This position requires working weekends and evenings.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support the church’s liturgical activity through the well-prepared execution of music presented by the choirs and other musicians.
- Serve as principal keyboardist at weekend and holyday liturgies (Saturday 5:00 PM, Sunday 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM, and holydays as assigned), and at 4 of 5 Daily Masses (8:15 AM, Monday-Friday).
- Serve as principal keyboardist for weddings and funerals.
- Serve as accompanist for the Sanctuary Choir in weekly (Thursdays, 7:00-8:45pm, September-June) and special rehearsals, weekend/Holyday liturgies, retreats, and other performances as assigned.
Skills & qualifications
- Experience in liturgical church worship, playing both organ and piano, with an understanding of and familiarity with the breadth of Catholic worship music
- High degree of proficiency playing organ and piano in a sacred setting, including chord charts and lead sheets, open score choral music, and the requisite skill to accompany groups and individuals
- Ability to take direction and work as a team member
- Ability to communicate well and in a friendly manner with music staff, parish leadership, volunteer musicians, and members of the congregation
- Desire to maintain a constant program of self-improvement

Organist
Incarnation Lutheran Church (ILC) is seeking an organist to help us experience and celebrate God’s gifts of grace in worship at our traditional Sunday worship service at 11am. ILC has a long history of excellent music expressed through our musicians, vocal and bell choirs, congregational singing, instrumental ensembles, and soloists. Our organ is a 187 Bond instrument with a two manual console, 17 stops, and 20 ranks of pipes. Our sanctuary piano is a 6-foot Yamaha Grand.
Weekly Responsibilities:
- Select and prepare prelude and postlude for weekly worship.
- Accompany choir rehearsals once a week (September through May).
- Accompany/rehearse with soloists during the summer months.
- Lead the congregation in selected liturgy and hymns.
Other Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with ILC’s Senior Pastor, Director of Music, and other ILC staff.
- Special services (Christmas, Lent, Holy Week) as well as concerts would be required.
Qualifications:
- Accomplished musician with a knowledge of Christian faith and the importance of music in worship.
- Appreciation for and experience playing classical and contemporary works.
- Self-motivated team player who can work collaboratively with ministry staff, lay leaders, and volunteers.

Choir Director
Oceanside First Presbyterian Church is seeking a Christian Choral Director to lead our choir and support our traditional worship service through vibrant, Christ-centered music. The Choral Director plays a key role in shaping the musical life of the church and works closely with our accompanist, organist, and pastoral staff to create a worshipful and engaging experience.
Compensation: $400 per week
Weekly Duties:
- Lead choir rehearsals on Thursday evenings from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
- Conduct Sunday morning choir rehearsal at 9:00 AM
- Direct choir during Sunday worship service from 10:00 AM – 11:15 AM
- Coordinate and lead music for special services and concert series events as needed
Qualifications:
- Experience directing traditional choral music and working with volunteer singers
- Ability to select appropriate anthems and coordinate hymn choices.
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Willingness to collaborate with accompanist, staff, and worship team
- Passion for building community and encouraging spiritual growth through music
- Experience with classical and sacred repertoire preferred

Organist for Heritage (Traditional) Service
Position title: Organist for Heritage (Traditional) Service
Position type: Hourly Paid Staff
Reports to: Director of Worship and Technology (DWT)
The purpose of this position is to support the DWT in leading our heritage service by providing music played from the organ and organizing volunteer hymn leaders. On occasion, requests to provide organ music or piano music services or events outside of Sunday morning worship will come up.
We are open to both long term and short term commitments.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide music planning and worship leadership for the Heritage service by playing through aspects of Setting I and II from the Lutheran Book of Worship (LBW), working with the pastoral team to plan weekly hymns from the LBW for the service and play them from the organ.
- Play 3-5 minute pre-service or prelude music, a short postlude, quiet music during the distribution of Communion, and try to incorporate variations on some verses of selected hymns.
- Working with the DWT, maintain a rotation of volunteer hymn leaders to lead the singing of hymns and liturgical elements within the Heritage service, scheduling them a month in advance and aid the DWT to recruit and train new hymn leaders as needed.
- Work within the boundaries of our licensing organization to report weekly hymn usage, ensure all hymns are covered under the license, or are public domain.
- Select and play hymns for midweek noon services during the seasons of lent and advent as requested.
- This position will occasionally be requested to play hymns for memorial services and compensation will be provided by the requesting family.
- Other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Choir Director
Fallbrook United Methodist Church is seeking a Choir Director to help lead our music ministry. The Choir Director is an essential part of our worship service in providing Traditional choral music. The Choir Director works under the supervision of the pastor and the Staff Parish Relation Committee. The Choir sings traditional choral pieces and is made up of 8 dedicated, talented, and enthusiastic members.
Weekly duties:
- Choir rehearsal 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM Sunday morning
- Sunday service 10AM – 11:15 AM
Skills required:
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks.

- Prepare and organize the choir calendar, rehearsals, and events, in
coordination with the worship team and pastor, and communicate all
dates to the Administrative Assistant.
- Attend meetings that are relevant to the music ministry.
