Here are the details...

Job Title - - Music Leader and Coordinator
Reports To - - The Pastor
Hours - - Part-time - - 10-15 hours per week. Hours are to be scheduled with the supervisor. Any additional hours require prior approval from the supervisor.
Rate of Pay - - $22.00 to $30.00 per hour.
Position Summary - - The part time Music Leader/Coordinator is responsible for and supports all music connected to worship for the church. This includes working closely with the Pastor in creating a vision for music to be woven into weekly services and special events bringing art, faith, and nature together. This person also serves as a member of the Music and Worship Committee of Session. It is the responsibility of the Leader/Coordinator to explore all genres of instrumental and vocal music including classical, traditional, folk, rock, rap, ethnic, and multinational. Must be supportive of the vision and mission of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Westminster complies with CalOSHA work place regulations for Covid-19.

Qualifications:

  • Must have some education in the field of music.
  • Must be proficient in reading music, singing, and leading group singing.
  • Must be proficient in playing the piano.
  • Ability to play additional instruments such as guitar, drums, organ is helpful.
  • Must be a leader to bring people of all musical backgrounds together to make music.
  • Must have an open mind to think outside of the box in bringing all types of music into the music fabric of the church.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works collaboratively with the Pastor and the Worship and Music Committee to develop creative worship services in person and online.
  • Creates, records, and uploads music via YouTube, Facebook, etc. for use in online worship and events.
  • Sets up instrument(s) and sound system(s) for indoor and outdoor services and events, conducts sound checks, and assists in technical walk throughs.
  • Plays for worship services, weddings, funerals, and special events or arranges for musicians to provide such services.
  • Invites, leads and coordinates the Westminster Singers - a volunteer group of interested singers and musicians to participate in worship services.
  • Coordinates bringing soloists, duets, and other music groups - both vocal and instrumental - to provide music at our weekly worship services.
  • Manages musicians and conducts regular rehearsals.
  • Reaches out to community groups to bring music to Westminster in the form of worship or concerts in the sanctuary or Westminster Park. This outreach includes touring groups, college musicians, high school musicians, gospel choirs, LGBTQ+ choirs, and musical theatre groups.

Director of Music

San Dieguito United Methodist Church located in the Southern California coastal city of Encinitas is an open and affirming church with a congregation of approximately 900 members. The motto of the Methodist Church, "Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors" welcomes everyone regardless of age, race, education, economic status, marital status, sexual orientation or special needs. The church's music programs are an integral part of the weekly worship service. The Chancel Choir is accompanied by a Schantz Pipe Organ of 42 ranks or an eight foot Yamaha grand piano.

The Director of Music supervises the music ministry of the entire church. Duties include conducting the Chancel Choir, coordinating and supervising other church choral and instrumental organizations including an active handbell program, children's and youth choirs. The Director of Music coordinates with and reports directly to the Senior Minster.

San Dieguito United Methodist Church is noted for its exceptional music program, grounded in the classical genre, but distinguished by its breadth, quality, congregational participation and support. The Chancel Choir usually performs two major concerts with orchestra every year. The concert repertoire has included such works as "Messiah" (Handel), "The Creation" (Haydn), "Mass of the Children" (Rutter), "German Requiem", (Brahms), "Magnificat"(J. S. Bach), "In Terra Pax" (Finzi), and "Ceremony of Carols" (Britten).

Qualifications: Expertise and experience in conducting choral and instrumental music.

Our long-time music director and organist is retiring, and thus Gloria Dei Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod) in Escondido seeks a comprehensive musician to be our music director and organist to lead the church's traditional, liturgical music program. Ensembles include the adult choir, handbell choir, and Sunday School music. There is one weekly Sunday Divine Service at 9:00 am with Sunday School at 10:30 am, a midweek evening service, and other seasonal services throughout the year. The organ is a hybrid 2 manual Schlicker 11 rank pipe organ with an Allen Renaissance digital organ.

Compensation is commensurate with experience. Four weeks of paid vacation are provided per year.

Organist/Pianist

La Mesa First United Methodist Church has a September 1st opening for a part-time Organist/Pianist accompanist. We are looking for a Christian person with an understanding of music ministry as an element of the worship life of a congregation. Qualifications include a degree in music or equivalent and proficiency on the piano/keyboard as well as the organ.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide organ/piano music for Sunday worship service at 9:30 am (8:30-10:45 am call time, at present).
  • Accompany Thursday night choir rehearsals (6:30-9:30 call time).
  • Choose appropriate organ/piano music for preludes, offertories and postludes in cooperation with the Director of Music.
  • Provide organ/piano music for other special or seasonal worship services or concerts, i.e., Christmas Eve, Christmas Day (when Christmas falls on a Sunday), Ash Wednesday, Holy Week, Shrove Tuesday, Pops Concert in June. Dress rehearsals on Friday evenings prior to Sunday concerts.
  • Will work collaboratively with the Director of Music in short and long-term planning.

Education:

  • Bachelor's (Preferred)
  • Liturgical Service Playing: 2 years (Preferred)

Hours per week:

  • 10 hours to include: Sundays – 8:30-10:45 am. Thursdays – 6:30-9:30 pm. 4-5 hours a week practice either on or off site.

St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Christian Church seeks an organist to play our two manual Allen Quantum organ for weekly rehearsals, 1 Sunday service a week, special church services, youth choir rehearsals, concert, and weddings. As a musician, it is preferred (not required) the organist have a degree in music, Liturgical experience. accompaniment experience, good site reading skills, dependable, diligent in preparation. This position reports to the Music Director of the parish.

Weekly Duties:

  • Choir Rehearsals once a week. (Typically on Thursdays, 7pm-9pm)
  • Sunday Services (Service begins at 9:50am - 12pm)
  • Rehearsal with Youth Choir (Generally Sundays from 12:20pm-1:30pm)
  • Some extra services may include, Holy Week, Christmas Eve or Day, and other Major Feast days of the church.
  • Provide organ music for weddings as scheduled and accompany Chanter. A separate fee is given for this service.

Compensation:

  • Part Time Position
  • Pay is commensurate with experience
