Mission of the Position: 
The Organist is responsible for providing his/her Musical talent on organ and piano. He/she is to use this position to accompany an adult praise/worship choir able to sing songs from a wide variety of musical styles, both traditional and contemporary. Newly remodeled Sanctuary. 
Two manual Allen ADC 5300 digital organ with MIDI.

ORGANIST

The Organist is expected to have outstanding musical talent and expertise.  Responsibilities are to provide appropriate pipe organ (and sometimes piano) music for two Sunday services and special services of the liturgical year, to rehearse (Thursday evenings) with and accompany the adult Chancel Choir, and on occasion to present solo recitals and join in choral/orchestras concerts.  It is expected that the time requirements for this position will average 15-20 hours per week.  Additional funds are earned by playing for wedding and funeral/memorial services, and the Organist has first refusal with those services.  Both Sunday services are considered traditional in musical style and liturgy. Position is considered twelve-month, with four weeks of paid vacation.  Salary is based on AGO guidelines and is commensurate with education and experience.  The anticipated salary range is $19,000 to $21,000.

The church sanctuary has a Schantz Pipe Organ (1980) of 33 ranks, expanded to 42 ranks in 2011, and an 8 ft. Yamaha grand piano. The sanctuary seats 500 people and is quite a beautiful design.  San Dieguito United Methodist Church, encinitaschurch.com, is a 900-member, multigenerational church with strong traditions of community and international outreach and support.
